A Pop of Pink
A pop of pink - just for fun.
It’s been 6 months since most of us gave any thought to putting on lipstick, let alone brave a bold new “lip”. For me, as someone who doesn’t particularly like or even care about lip product (lipstick, gloss, liner, balm, the works) it’s been even longer. In times pre-Covid when masks weren’t the mandatory accessory I would dabble with an annual lipstick application but beyond that it’s never been something much to tempt me. On the balance I feel I probably look better without color on my lips but it’s also laziness and a lack of interest that leads me to never putting anything on.
In the months spent quarantining, I’ve felt a sense of relief hiding behind big sunglasses and a mask, perhaps the occasional eyeliner when I really had to get gussied up for a Zoom meeting of even a day spent in the store. As I’m often forced (admittedly by no one other than myself) to “model” for the weekly Pavilion Editorial blog, I felt inspired to throw on the brightest shade I could find in my profoundly limited lipstick collection. Admittedly this all came after watching Selena + Chef and loving her Hung Vanngo created makeup looks. To get my mind right for the shoot, I went for it with an unapologetic neon lip, slicked back hair and some gold hoops. This is not a practical application for how to wear a smudge proof lippie in a mask but it is a fun pop of color in a wretchedly unfun time. I’m wearing Schiap from Nars to get that hot fuchsia look but if you wanted to tone things down you can always layer on a softer shade. I actually initially bought this with a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bolero to soften the super bold Schiap. I’m not a gloss girl but if you are it’s another great way to dim the intensity of this look.
